Rural Health Advocates
At MHS, we strive to hard to bring you information that we feel would be helpful in your everyday life, whether it’s at home, on the job or enjoying a day out. MHS would like to take the time to explain to you why we are Rural Health Advocates.
First, the US healthcare delivery and financing system is one of the most unique, dynamic, complicated and bureaucratic industries in the world.
Second, the impact of the aforementioned factors tends to affect many underserved, low income and underrepresented communities in regard to access to healthcare. The likelihood of leading a healthier way of life is decreased three-fold.Third, rural Americans are aging in place with a healthcare system that has drastically changed the way delivery and financing of care is viewed. Managed care has increased the difficulty level in servicing, financing and administrative processes.
Every creative and cumbersome plan introduced to the market has heightened frustration and disillusionment. I feel that this concept has overwhelmingly confused, baffled and upset many Americans. The concept of controlling costs is a great idea. But, should care and quality be sacrificed in this controlled environment?
Rural Americans were already limited in their daily lives prior to managed care. Now, the limitations have grown even worse. Health policies and jargon alone are a huge deterrent for poor access to healthcare. Physicians want to practice medicine, not sit and interpret each patient's policy prior to delivering care.
The jargon in many of the health plans can take even the above average reader for a loop. The wording and is quite vague and nonspecific. So, why bother reading it. There are agencies des9igned to help the consumer tread through such murky information. These agencies however, are not always easily accessible and can be a disappointment due to bureaucracy. The consumer and practitioner need someone that is willing to devote the time and energy to explain their benefits in dept and provide for them a financial and service overview.
Understanding the system means understanding how it operates and what drives it. MHS has to do its part in impacting the education of young business professionals as well as those consumers who want to better understand how to access the system and finance their care.
